Davis, WV – At its regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors, the Snow Sports Museum of West Virginia voted to establish a Hall of Fame to recognize those individuals who have been instrumental in the snow sports industry of the Mountain State.
The Hall of Fame (HOF) will be an important part of the museum’s mission of highlighting those who worked hard to establish West Virginia snow sports from the beginning in 1951 on Cabin Mountain in the Canaan Valley until modern-day at snow sport locations such as Snowshoe, Winterplace, Oglebay, Canaan Valley Resort, White Grass, and Timberline Mountain. The Hall will also recognize those who created, operated, and worked at those “lost” ski areas of the past.
The Snow Sports Hall of Fame will recognize and honor the first class of inductees in December 2020. In order to do so, the Snow Sports Museum of West Virginia is seeking nominations for individuals who deserve to be enshrined in the first class and those of issuing years. We ask that nominations follow the guidelines as outlined on the museum’s web page, snowsportsmuseumwv.org. You can submit the form electronically with documentation of the individual’s snow sports biography. You can also download and print the nomination form then mail it along with supporting documentation. The Deadline for the class of 2020 is October 31, 2020. The HOF committee will submit recommendations of inductees to the Snow Sports Museum’s Board of Directors for final consideration at its regular November meeting. Those selected for the class of 2020 or the family of those being recognized posthumously will be notified later in November. There will be a recognition ceremony or banquet in December if permitted by COVID-19 restrictions.
