PARSONS, W.Va – With February recognized as National Children’s Dental Health Month, St. George Dental Clinic will be spreading awareness by hosting a coloring contest and speaking to area students about the importance of dental health.
The month of February is a great time for dental offices to share the benefits of good oral health to children, adults, and caregivers. Since healthy habits established early on in childhood are critical in maintaining good oral health throughout life, the staff of St. George’s Dental Clinic will be speaking with Tucker County students.
On February 17, Ann Jackson, DDS will visit the preschool through first grade students of Tucker Valley Elementary/Middle School. Dr. Jackson will discuss and demonstrate proper brushing techniques, benefits of flossing and drinking water, the importance of routine dentist visits and making healthy food choices.
Each class presentation, which will last roughly 15 minutes, will focus on making the students feel comfortable and excited to visit the dentist. Students will receive a hygiene packet equipped with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and a timer. Worksheets will also be provided to students to take home and enjoy with their families.
St. George Dental Clinic will also offer a “Show Us Your Smile” Color Contest to all pre-K through eighth grade Tucker County residents. Students can enter by printing off the coloring pages at stgeorgeclinic.org/color or by stopping into the office. Entries should be returned by Feb. 28, 2020; one entry per person. Be sure to include the child’s name, grade, school, homeroom if applicable and parent or guardian’s contact information so that the winners may be notified.
One winner from each age group will be chosen at random. Winners will be announced on the St. George Dental Clinic’s Facebook page the first week of March and will receive free movie passes. Prizes must be picked up in person.
