Oakland, MD – On Tuesday, May 2nd the Garrett County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars honored Team One Chevrolet Buick GMC owner Fred Timbrook with a Patriotic Citizen Award.

According to Janice Judy, President of the VFW post 10077, they selected Mr. Timbrook for his continued display of the giant star spangled banner on the front lot of his dealership. The award itself states that it is given “…for unsolicited inspirational patriotic service to the community through the display of our national flag.”
The flag has been associated with the dealership for years, and is a well-known landmark for travelers on Garrett Highway. When Team One was acquired by the Timbrook Automotive Group in September of 2016, Fred Timbrook choose to continue to fly Old Glory daily.
“We felt that was a tradition that needed to continue” said Timbrook. “We are proud to be Americans and enjoy all that this great country has to offer.”
Team One Chevrolet Buick GMC is Garrett County’s only GM dealership. They are also the largest volume dealer in the area. Team One employs more than 40 residents of Garrett County in Maryland, as well as Preston, Tucker, and Monongalia Counties in West Virginia.
Team One is located at 12899 Garrett Highway in Oakland. The public is encouraged to stop by and view the stars & stripes, and look at some great American-made vehicles at the same time!
