The free Thanksgiving dinner returned to this Senior Center this year. 75 volunteers took time out of their own holiday to help brighten the day for people in Tucker County.
57 turkeys were cooked by community members and people who had the dinner enjoyed all the trimmings, including stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and pumpkin pie.
This is the 15th year the meal has taken place, which began in 2005. Due to COVID concerns, the meal was canceled last year, but came back in full force this year with pick-up and delivery only. Hopefully next year, the meal will include eat-in as well.
The meal would not be possible without the volunteers, as well as local churches and community organizations. The free meal is open to everyone, regardless of their social and economic statues, so that no one has to go without a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving.
