Petersburg, W.Va. — September 8, 2025 — The Grant County Bank proudly announced a $9,500 donation to the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company to support the purchase of new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) air packs. This vital equipment will help ensure firefighter safety while they continue to serve and protect the community.

The donation was presented on behalf of The Grant County Bank by Shelley Mongold, Vice President of Loan Operations, Jeffrey Reedy, Senior Vice President & CFO, and Scotty Miley, Vice President of Retail Lending.

“Our firefighters are on the front lines every day, often entering hazardous conditions to protect lives and property,” said Jeffrey Reedy. “We are honored to support the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department with the tools they need to perform their duties safely and effectively.”

SCBA air packs are critical for allowing firefighters to safely enter environments filled with smoke, toxic gases, and other life-threatening conditions. Each unit, which includes an air pack, mask, and spare cylinder, costs approximately $9,500. The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company is working to replace outdated equipment that no longer meets current safety standards.

“The Grant County Bank has always been committed to strengthening our community,” added Shelley Mongold. “Supporting our first responders is one way we can give back to the people who work tirelessly to keep us safe.”

“Our local firefighters are our neighbors, friends, and family members,” said Scotty Miley. “We are proud to stand beside them and help provide the resources they need to do their jobs safely.”

The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that updated SCBA units will help ensure the safety of their firefighters and improve their ability to respond to emergencies across Petersburg and surrounding areas.
