Thomas, WV – As part of Vision 2030, the retirement community of The Pines, located on Cortland’s campus, is expanding to include four new homes.

The convenient, one-floor patio homes offer spacious two-bedroom floor plans, handicap accessible showers, and on-site storage units. The units under construction are under roof and expected to be available January 1, 2020.

Helping residents remain active, involved and independent is the main goal at The Pines. The application process is simple. It helps you transition from prospective resident to a community member quickly and easily. Worry-free retirement living at The Pines offers convenience and assistance with tasks associated with home-ownership that allows you the freedom to enjoy your life.

There are a number of services available to residents of The Pines and are covered in the monthly service fee. Standard Services include: lawn care, snow removal, maintenance and repair of home, repair & replacement of major appliances, garbage collection, exercise & wellness programs, monitoring of a 24-hour emergency call & fire alarm system, entertainment and educational activities, holiday celebrations, gardening space, scheduled activity transportation (shopping, etc.) and priority admission to Cortland Acres Skilled Nursing facility for qualifying services.

The new patio homes under construction at The Pines in Cortland Acres take advantage of a tranquil woodland setting without being off the beaten path.

Payment for a home in The Pines is made through an Equity Plan arrangement. This plan has been designed for those who wish to convert some of their current assets into retirement housing. The payment made is equal to the current value or cost of the dwelling. When a resident vacates the home, Cortland Acres Association, Inc., as owner, will pay to the resident or his/her estate an equity refund based on a percentage of the initial payment.

Through this Equity Plan arrangement, a resident continues to have the security of one’s own place while enjoying the freedom from home care and maintenance chores.
