Tucker Community Foundation accepting grant applications for the 2020 season

This year we will be awarding Grant funding to organizations, volunteer groups, and people working to create positive change in their communities in Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph, and Tucker counties of West Virginia, as well as Garrett County, Maryland. To be considered, groups must be working within the foundation’s eight-county service areas.

Grant applications must be turned into the Tucker Community Foundation’s office located at 100 Education Lane, Parsons WV 26287 by November 6, 2020. They can also be mailed to the above address within a postmark date of November 6, 2020. Grants can be electronically submitted to grants@tuckerfoundation.net

To make the process easier, applications are divided into two categories: mini-grants and grants. Groups requesting $500 or less will fill out the nine-grant form. Requests of grants over $500 will be made through the foundation’s regular grant form. To download a grant application, go online at www.tuckerfoundation.net/endowed-funds/grants/.

“Grant season at the foundation is always a time of excitement and reflection,” said Jennifer Rexroad, Executive Director of the Tucker Community Foundation. “Every year we are reminded of the efforts of hard-working folks who tirelessly pressure causes to make our communities better” “As a community Foundation we are honored to play a role in helping community organizations, and grass-root groups bring the changes to help better the places we live and work.”

Grant applications can cover a wide range of charitable service areas including the arts, education, health and safety, emergency services, community development, parks, libraries, historic preservation, and more. In years past, grants have helped a high school theater group afford building supplies to construct a set or a church’s food pantry restock its shelves, or a search and recovery crew afford new emergency equipment.

The foundation’s grant funding is due to the generosity of donors who have established and contributed the more than 130 endowed funds and unrestricted funds established through the foundation. While some funds are targeted to support specific charitable areas, others are written to have a much wider reach.

All grant awards are based on a competitive application process. To see the full list of endowed funds supporting this year’s grant season, please visit www.tuckerfoundation.net/endowed-funds/grants

“With the current COVID-19 pandemic, grants play an even bigger role in the 8 counties we serve,” said Rexroad, who also wanted to make the point if anyone or any organization has questions on grant applications or the process of receiving a grant through the Tucker Community Foundation, please call the office between the hours of 8 Am to 4 PM at 304-478-2930. All staff members will be happy to assist.
