Tucker County 4-H held the annual Winter Retreat recently. This group of 40 4-Her’s had a great time this weekend “serving their hands to larger service.” Friday night kicked off by having a visit from our local 911 Communications Center staff, where 4-Her’s learned the importance of making 911 calls and actually got to do a little role playing and make a few cold calls to the 911 center.
Also, 4-Her’s went out into the community to put their hands to work. One group visited the residents of Cortland Acers where they colored and constructed ‘bird quilt.’ Another group visited our local FRN organization where they learned about Child Abuse Awareness month and decorated the courthouse and a city window front with for Pinwheels for Prevention. While a third group visited the animal shelter and cleaned pens, folded laundry and walked the dogs.
