“A recent visitor study by West Virginia University identified hospitality and friendliness as the Mountain Highlands highest ranked attribute. Tucker County has a lot to offer visitors and these hospitality training sessions will serve as a great refresher course,” said Jessica Waldo, Tucker County CVB executive director. “We hope our local industry partners will attend and help us maintain our competitive advantage.”
Travel and tourism is one of America’s largest industries, with $927.9 billion in direct travel expenditures by domestic and international travelers. The travel industry accounts for an estimated 670 direct jobs in Tucker County and generates $40.1 million in wages earned each year.
“Travel provides a unique trickledown effect to nearly every area of business,” said Waldo. “We encourage residents to invite their friends and family to visit Tucker County this year. Shop in our unique shops, dine in our restaurants, visit our one-of-a-kind attractions and enjoy a getaway. We are a short drive away and are a tremendously affordable destination.”
The hospitality training workshops are sponsored by the Tucker County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Canaan Valley Resort and Blackwater Falls State Park.
