Attendees will identify local natural resources priorities and criteria for USDA programs
PHILIPPI, W.Va., – The Tygarts Valley Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will host a second local work group meeting to provide guidance and discuss the Focused Conservation Approach. The Focused Conservation Approach is a new NRCS conservation delivery system.
The local work group includes representatives from conservation organizations and the public to provide localized information on natural resource priorities in the Tygarts Valley area. Ben Collier, NRCS District Conservationist and his staff cover two field offices in Philippi and Elkins, which include Barbour, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker, and Upshur Counties.
Producers have an opportunity to voice their concerns, ask questions and discuss possible projects to benefit the Tygarts Valley Conservation District. The local work groups are the foundation of the Focused Conservation Approach. The local work group will define conservation needs and help localize efforts to address specific resource concerns, Collier said.
