Bridgeport, W.Va. – WVU Medicine United Hospital Center (UHC) is proud to announce a significant donation to the Bridgeport detachment of the West Virginia State Police — funding for the purchase of 15 MediTAC Rucksack Assault Trauma Tactical Kits. This contribution is designed to equip the local law enforcement with immediate life-saving medical supplies for use in critical, high-stress situations.

The specific kits chosen, the MediTAC fully stocked Rucksack Assault Trauma Tactical IFAK Kits, are versatile and portable, ensuring officers have advanced trauma supplies on hand wherever they go. Each kit includes essential emergency items for quick and effective treatment in the field, such as a CAT tourniquet, chest seals, clotting gauze, and a LifeStraw water filter. This equipment provides immediate care for severe bleeding, dehydration, and injury stabilization, serving as vital life-saving equipment for first responders.

“In an emergency situation, the immediate actions taken by first responders often determine the difference between life and death,” said David F. Hess, MD, regional president of the Central Region for WVU Health System and CEO of WVU Medicine United Hospital Center. “The brave men and women of the West Virginia State Police are on the front lines every day protecting our community. By providing these advanced trauma kits, we are empowering them to deliver critical, immediate care when seconds count most. UHC is committed to the health and safety of our region, and supporting our local law enforcement is an essential part of that mission.”

The donation underscores United Hospital Center’s dedication to community health initiatives that extend beyond the hospital walls, reinforcing the strong partnership between local healthcare providers and public safety agencies.
