ELKINS, W.Va. (April 10, 2025) – Vandalia Health Davis Medical Center is pleased to announce that family physician Catherine M. Chua, DO, will serve as West Virginia’s Women’s Constituency Representative for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL), April 24-26, in Kansas City, MO.

Founded in 1947, the AAFP is one of the largest national medical organizations, representing more than 129,000 family physicians, residents and medical students across the United States. The organization champions health equity, access to care and the pivotal role of primary care in improving individual and community health outcomes.

The NCCL, an annual leadership development event hosted by the AAFP, brings together members from five underrepresented groups within family medicine—women, minorities, new physicians, international medical graduates and LGBTQ+ physicians and allies. NCCL provides a platform for representatives to voice their perspectives, develop leadership skills and influence AAFP policy and direction. Delegates at NCCL participate in resolution writing, leadership training, and policy discussions that help shape the future of the organization and the specialty.

“I’m honored to represent West Virginia as the women’s constituency delegate at the AAFP’s National Conference of Constituency Leaders,” Dr. Chua said. “This is an important opportunity to bring forward the voices of women in family medicine, advocate for equitable health care policies and help shape the future of our profession on a national stage.”

“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Chua’s appointment as West Virginia’s representative, which reflects her dedication and commitment to advancing the interests of women in family medicine,” said Ronald J. Andro, MSHSM, MSHES, BSN, RN, Senior Vice President of Davis Health System and Chief Administrative Officer of Davis Medical Center. “Dr. Chua’s leadership, clinical excellence and dedication to advancing inclusive care make her an outstanding advocate for women in family medicine—not only in our state, but across the country.”
