Parsons Volunteer Fire Department performed a water rescue on Friday, Aug. 24. Co. 10 was dispatched by Tucker 911 to the area on the Shavers Fork River in behind the old Parsons Footwear Building.
There was two individuals in in the water and had apparently lost their kayaks. Co10 members led by swift water techs Tom Klus and Preston Simmons established a plan of action and with in a short period of time successfully removed the individuals from the water and reunited them with their kayaks at the area around the town bridge. PVFD FIre Chief Kevin White said,
Our men have trained hard the last few years for this type of incident in preparation for the ever increasing usage of the area water ways. With more recreation in the area comes the possibility of an incident and our men are prepared for many possible recreation involved incidents.”
