West Virginia Tops Nation for Decrease in Drunk Driving Fatality Rates

Research shows West Virginia saw a decrease of -54.72% in drunk driving fatalities from 2000 to 2017, ranking it the 2nd-largest rate of decrease in the country.

West Virginia police are ramping up patrols for this month’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over DUI Campaign leading up to Labor Day weekend. I thought to share recent data by QuoteWizard on the decrease in drunk driving fatalities that your community would be interested in.

In 2000, West Virginia had the 22nd-least drunk driving fatalities with 159
In 2017, West Virginia had the 15th-least with 72 total fatalities ranking it the number 1 largest rate of decrease in the country

Neighboring state Maryland saw a 16.98% increase in fatalities
