Mark Whittaker of Tucker County was inducted into the West Virginia Public Health Hall of Fame on Sept. 22, 2016 at the annual conference meeting at Canaan Valley.
Whittaker has served the citizens of WV for over 39 years in the Environmental Health field. He has served as a County Sanitarian and as a District Sanitarian serving 28 counties in WV. He has also been a Director of the WV On-Site Sewage Program, a soild waste inspector and many other unofficial roles concerning Public Health.
The purpose of the West Virginia Public Health Hall of Fame award is to recognize individuals who have helped make this country great by making outstanding contributions to the establishment, development and advancement of Public Health in West Virginia.
Whittaker resides in Hendricks with his wife, the former Nancy Ketterman.
