The West Virginia Rivers Coalition is proud to announce its new Campaigns Coordinator, Dr. Sarah Cross. Sarah is now leading the West Virginians for Public Lands campaign and is working on the group’s Climate Change initiative.

As the statewide voice for water quality since 1989, WV Rivers promotes clean, drinkable, swimmable, and fishable waterways. Sarah’s background, accomplishments, and skills complement this work. As a West Virginia native, Sarah has spent most of her life surrounded by and caring for the waterways of the Mountain State.

“I’m proud to be part of an organization that prioritizes the protection of West Virginia’s water resources. I grew up swimming and canoeing these waterways. There needs to be a united front to safeguard the water in our state and that’s what we are here to do,” said Cross.

In Sarah’s new role, she is responsible for coordinating advocacy and public outreach related to public lands in West Virginia. In addition, she will be coordinating efforts related to climate change throughout the state, including education, outreach, and partnership development.

Sarah comes to WV Rivers with years of experience in the environmental and agricultural fields. Most recently, she completed her doctoral degree in science education. In the past, she has also worked in environmental consulting for the private sector and as an educator for Ohio State University Extension.
