Purchasing licenses and stamps supports wildlife conservation statewide

Charleston, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) today reminded hunters and anglers that 2025 licenses and stamps expired on Dec. 31. A new license and stamps must be purchased before participating in a 2026 season.

Purchasing licenses and stamps at the beginning of the year ensures sportsmen and women get the most value from their license while staying compliant with state regulations. It also provides critical revenue that directly supports wildlife management, habitat restoration, public access, law enforcement and education programs that benefit wildlife and outdoor recreation across the state.

“Our hunters and anglers are part of an incredible community that helps make conservation possible in West Virginia,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “We look ahead to another year of promoting hunting and fishing opportunities, protecting wildlife populations and providing quality outdoor experiences for everyone.”

Hunters and anglers may choose from several licensing options, including an annual sportsman package, which combines hunting, fishing and trapping privileges along with the required conservation and big game stamps.

As an optional upgrade, hunters and anglers may also purchase a collectible license card, which features artwork of popular big game and sportfish species, such as black bear, wild turkey, bass and musky. Licenses and stamps are available to purchase at authorized license agents statewide and online at WVhunt.com.
