Floral and greenery components were used creatively in Yards of the Month, which were selected by Mountaineer Garden Club for August 2021. Business YOM winner,
Melissa Sexton of Hair Haven on Pennsylvania Avenue, used window boxes draped with flags starring solid and striped purple petunias, cascading Tradescantia zebrina, (wandering jew), and bacopa flows from all boxes across the office complex.
Residental YOM was awarded to Kim Sprout on Walnut Street, who chose morning glories to surround her front porch creating beautiful greenery with pink and deep red flowers. Also present are pots of pink and red petunias, a sago palm and beautiful coral and white coneflowers.
