“Well I met her in the hills of West Virginia, in the heart of a coal mining town”

These are lyrics taken from Doyle Lawson’s song “Girl from WV”

Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver are a multi award winning Bluegrass supergroup and one of the many bands performing at the 11th annual Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival.

Appalachia is the home of Bluegrass. With an area steeped in the traditions of bluegrass it’s no wonder Parsons is a hot spot for national recording artists and fans to flock.

John & Joyce Bowers, the promoters of Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival, moved to Tucker County for that purpose in 2004. To grow a Bluegrass Festival. And grow it they did! Fans attend from all over the United States and several countries worldwide. The 2014 Entertainment schedule is chock full of multi award winning performers.

Dailey & Vincent, Larry Sparks, Michael Cleveland, Lonesome River Band, The Grascals, Junior Sisk, Nothin’ Fancy, and Little Roy Lewis just to name a few.

The Festival showcases 20 of the hottest names in Bluegrass over the four day family-friendly event. Complete with lots of food and craft vendors. Pre-festival entertainment includes the Bluegrass Community Fair July 26th and public auction at 1pm on July 28th.

With 58 full service campsites, many modern restrooms and lots of non-service parking on flat, well manicured grounds, Five River Campground is the perfect location for this event.

Pickin’ in Parsons Bluegrass Festival held July 30 through August 2 For tickets or additional information, call 304-478-3515 or visit the website fiverivercampground.com
