DAVIS, W.Va., September 20, 2016 – After already doubling its snowmaking capacity for the upcoming winter ski season, Canaan Valley Resort State Park in West Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains is adding even more equipment in the form of six efficient “stick guns” which allow for quick snow making.
The new equipment will be located on the resort’s 1.25-mile Timber Trail and will complement five “T40” propeller-driven snow guns which the resort recently acquired. Adding these snow guns will allow the resort to open the very popular trail more quickly.
“Each of these types of snow guns have distinct advantages, and we plan to use them to their fullest to create a great early-season experience throughout the whole ski year,” said Steve Drumheller, general manager of Canaan Valley Resort.
Additionally, the resort is selling West Virginia adult single season passes for just $300 and family passes for up to four persons for $900 through Sept. 30. Season passes at reduced rates are also available for seniors, college students and out-of-state guests.
Canaan Valley Resort plans to open its tubing park and ice skating rink Thanksgiving weekend with the ski hill operations opening Dec. 10, 2016.
Located in the highest mountain valley to the east of the Rocky Mountains, Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area is known for breathtaking views of the mountainous region.
