PARSONS – Parsons City Council members presented recorder Nick Carr with a certification of appreciation during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Carr has accepted a job out of state with his company G. J. Garton Insurance.
Members voted to allow Tucker County High School Homecoming Committee to use the city streets for a homecoming parade Sept. 22. The homecoming game is slated for Sept. 23. They also voted to sponsor a Fall Cleanup Event for the residents during the week of Oct. 17 to 21.
Parsons Trick or Treat is slated for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct 29.
Parsons City Administrator/Treasurer said the Park Board had a meeting recently and voted to transfer all deeded property from the Park to the City of Parsons. The reason is the assets need to be in the City’s name and it helps with grant applications.
Councilman Tim Auvil said the final concert in the park with the Davisson Brothers brought out nearly 400 people. He said they made $1,100 from food sales.
“Because of the logistics, we are probably going to cut back to three or four concerts next year,” Auvil said. “I think that would be more productive for everyone concerned.”
Members met in executive session to consider a personnel issue at Wellness 24 Fitness Center and to consider the personnel committee’s employment recommendation for the water and wastewater technician position and for part time and as needed fitness assistants at Wellness 24 Fitness Center.
The next regular meeting of the Parsons City Council is slated for 6 p.m. Sept. 20 in Council Chambers.
