Chief Keplinger Expresses Thanks to Boyles at City Council Meeting

     .A special quest speaker in attendance, at the regular session of Parsons City Council, was Parsons Volunteer Fire Department’s Chief Kevin White with a couple updates for upcoming events. White is hoping the hold the Annual Street Festival, providing everything goes well, in the fall this year. The dates White is hoping for the festival to take place are September 21-24 or October 28-November 1.   White will be meeting with other organizations involved to set a date. White also said there will be a triathlon held in May. Dates for the triathlon have not been set, but mentioned either May 14 or the 21 for the event. 

    The City of Parsons Police Chief Kevin Keplinger express ed the need for radios installed in cruisers to be able to talk to trucks out snow plowing.  Keplinger explained the new radios would deeply help with communication between the drivers and city personnel. He is hoping to use the Harman Fund to help cover cost of radios. 

     Keplinger also expressed a deep gratitude towards Davey Boyles.   During the first snow storm he helped an accident victim. The accident happened at the corner of Memorial and Weeping Willow. Leanne Jones had run off the road and down an embankment. Boyles was out plowing snow when he came about Jones and without hesitating ran down the embankment and pulled Jones from the vehicle to safety until emergency vehicles arrived.

     The council motioned for the second reading of proposed Code of Ordinances. Residents can find a copy of the proposed ordinances posted on front door of the Charles W. “Bill” Rosenau Municipal Building. They has also been a legal ad ran in the paper.  The council will also consider adopting an updated Pandemic Policy as the current one is from 2020. The new policy needs updatedwith new guidance.

     The next City Council Meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The meeting is held at the Charles W. “Bill” Rosenau Municipal Building located at 341 Second Street, Parsons, West Virginia.
