The first of two City Council meetings this month was held on Tuesday, September 5, at 6 p.m. in the Parsons Municipal Building.
Representatives from Henry Consulting spoke on their analysis of the Region VII Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This mitigation plan profiles 12 natural and human disasters and emergencies.
According to the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System, Parsons is considered Class 8. This rating qualifies Parsons residents for a 10 percent discount on their insurance premiums if their property lies in the floodplain.

The Council approved to pay an invoice of $54,028.82.
The Council will sponsor a Fall Cleanup Event for the residents of Parsons during the week of October 16-20. The Council set the date and time for this year’s Halloween Trick or Treating: Saturday, October 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The decorations, theme, and date were also discussed for the Christmas Parade. The theme for this year’s parade is “Christmas in Candy Land.” The parade will take place on Saturday, December 9, at 5 p.m.
Plans to fix the damaged areas in the Pulp Mill Bottom Diversion Wall were discussed.
