PARSONS – Parsons City Council recently received grants to elevate five Parsons homes as well as money for three generators. Parsons City Manager/Treasurer Jason Myers said the grant will provide generators in three locations.

The fist grant is to install an emergency generator at the Parsons City Wastewater Lift Station #1; the second at the Parsons Water Treatment Plant; and the third at the Parsons City Wastewater Lift Station #2.

Myers said they have been working on the grants since 2010.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting, Parsons City Council approved the following:

– The Council approved a request from the Five Rivers Library Board to reallocate Harman Funds for $3,834.79 for replacement of three public computers.

– Council members approved an application for a Small Cities Block Grant for a proposed Parsons/Hamrick PSD Secondary Water Supply Project. Myers said this would be a win/win situation and would fulfill the requirements for having a five-day water supply for two different cities.

– Approved transferring Tammy L. Michael’s employment status from probationary to regular full time effective Feb. 11.

The next meeting for the Parsons City Council is slated for 6 p.m. Feb. 17.
