 paint the town quiltwalk

PARSONS – Those traveling through downtown Parsons will be greeted by two new crosswalks, which were painted by volunteers on Saturday. The crosswalks, called “quiltwalks” were painted on Saturday by volunteers and AmeriCorps members during ‘Paint the Town.’

Dr. Cynthia Kolsun, PRO Member and ON TRAC Liaison said the Tucker County High School FFA and the City of Parsons were to be commended for the gorgeous downtown decorations. She said the fall lights on the lampposts were a great touch, and added the new ‘quiltwalks’ painted in downtown Parsons were from an idea borrowed from Fairmont, WV Main Street.

Kolsun said it is a wonderful experience to be a partner with WV Main Street ON TRAC and said Parsons had a wonderful board that works for the interests on the community. She invites everyone to come and enjoy the new ‘quiltwalk.’

Kolsun thanked everyone working on the downtown project and offered special thanks to Sydney Haltom for heading up the project, and thanked all other AmeriCorps members for helping make the project possible.

On Tuesday evening, Parsons City Council voted unanimously to approve the two “quiltwalk” crosswalk murals in downtown Parsons. This project is part of the Parsons ON TRAC/PRO Revitalization ‘Paint the Town’ project.
