Thomas, WV – Cortland Acres will have the grand opening of their new gift shop, Especially for You on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 4 p.m.. Located at the front entrance of Cortland’s main facility, the 650 square foot gift shop is part of the final phase of a one million dollar renovation project to update resident rooms and common areas.
Featuring unique gifts for all ages, Especially for You will offer fresh cut flowers and small arrangements from local favorites Stevens Florist and the ThomasYard. Seasonal gifts, home décor, jewelry, greeting cards and specialty food items will also be available to residents of Cortland Acres and the public. Especially for You will also carry inspirational gifts and popular brands Leanin’ Tree, Milk House Candle Co., Feridies specialty foods and many more.
“We are constantly looking for ways to improve our facilities and enrich the lives of our residents,” explains administrator Beth Clevenger. “Expanding the retail footprint and offering a wider variety of gift and food items is simply part of our continuing mission to serve our residents, families, and community.”
Instrumental in taking the gift shop idea and bringing it to life was Crystal Boone. The five-month project started with a vision for the retail space and included attending several gift buying conventions to stock the shop. The final result is a unique collection of gifts in a cozy setting.
Staffed by knowledgeable The Friends of Cortland volunteers, Especially for You is open to the public daily. Volunteers are available during business hours to help you select a meaningful gift over the phone or in person for free delivery to residents and employees of Cortland Acres, The Pines and Pineview Apartments.
“This has been an exciting project. The space is so welcoming and bright,” explains Friends of Cortland president Nancy Moore. “This is definitely a place you’ll want to visit again and again as our inventory will constantly change. I look for Especially for Youto be very popular with Cortland residents as well as the local community.”
A portion of the profits from the sale of gift shop items go to The Friends of Cortland to help fund their ongoing activities at Cortland throughout the year. Visa, MasterCard, personal checks and debit cards will be accepted and gift certificates are available.
