“I don’t think anyone could have better customers than we’ve had,” expressed Donna Moore, owner of Donna’s Family Hair Fashion. Moore attended the Clarksburg Beauty Academy and Wheeling Barber College, both requiring state boards, before opening the doors of her very own shop on March 30, 1991. Shortly thereafter, in January of 1992, Tammy Moore joined the new business providing local families with haircuts, colors, perms, beard trims, and basic facial waxing services. “We’ve made a pretty good team,” D. Moore added.
“I have been very blessed to have worked for 27 years with Donna,” T. Moore said. “I have made many friends and our clients have become my extended family.” “I appreciate each and every client that has come through our door, I am going to miss them all,” she added. “As far as future plans, I am planning on going into a different line of work knowing that God will guide my path. I am truly blessed and proud to live in such a wonderful area with wonderful people,” she concluded.
“Our customers are our family,” D. Moore agreed as she recalled doing first haircuts for young children who are now bringing in their own children for their first haircuts. When asked why she decided now was the right time for her to retire, she responded, “I decided while my health is good, now is the time to do it.” D. Moore confirmed she will miss her work and her customers, but she is looking forward to enjoying her home and doing things she enjoys. She said she is glad she decided to retire in the summer months so she can work outside and keep herself busy and occupied.
While she currently has no major plans for her retirement, she is planning on visiting family out of state and helping with their move. Her husband, Lowell Moore, is currently serving as a Tucker County Commissioner and has three and a half years left in his term before he becomes fully retired as well. T. Moore’s last official day is Friday, June 28 while D. Moore will open one last time before locking the doors at the end of the day for the final time on Saturday, June 29.
