Shelley Moore Capito, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate received 62.12 percent of W.Va. votes for a total of 280,123. Natalie Tennant, Democrat for U.S. Senate, received 155,456 votes for 34.47 percent of the votes. John S. Buckley, Libertarian, received 7,360 votes for 1.63 percent; Bob Henry Baber, 5,448 votes for 1.21 percent; and Phil Hudok, 2,544 for 0.56 percent.

In the race for U.S. House of Representatives 1st Congressional District, incumbent David McKinley, a Republican, received 91,941 votes across W.Va., representing 63.98 percent of the vote while Democrat Glen B. Gainer III, got 51,755 votes for 36.02 percent of the votes.

W.Va. voters cast 17,206 total votes for Republican incumbent Dave Sypolt in the W.Va. State Senate 14th District race and 9,119 votes for Democrat Stan Shaver.

In the race for W.Va. House of Delegates, 47th District, Danny Wagner, a Republican, received 3,387 votes for 65.36 percent, while Democrat Tamula “Tammy” Stemple received 1,658 votes for 32.86 percent of the votes. In the 53rd District, Randy E. Smith, a Republican, was unopposed.

The ballot on the Constitutional Amendment that will allow the Boy Scouts to use their Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve property in Fayetteville for other purposes without losing their currently available charitable use property tax exemption was given a thumbs-up by W.Va. voters. Votes for the amendment totaled 252,787, while those opposed numbered 155,590. The amendment received a majority of no votes in Tucker, Pocahontas, Fayette and Calhoun counties.

The Secretary of State website indicates that approximately 97,323 voters cast their choices during early voting and 457,151 voters made their choices during last Tuesday’s General Election.

Precinct 1 – Hamrick PSD

For U.S. Senator – Capito, 94; Tennant, 33; Buckley, 0; Baber, 0; Hudok, 2. For U.S. House of Representatives, 1st Congressional District – McKinley, 80 and Gainer, 44. For W.Va. State Senator in the 14th Senatorial District –Sypolt, 66 and Shaver, 60. For House of Representatives 53rd Delegate District –Smith, 96. For Tucker County Commissioner, Patrick Darlington, 79 and Mike Rosenau, 51. In the ballot on the Constitutional Amendment – For the Amendment, 37 and against the Amendment, 72. In the ballot for the Tucker County School Levy – For the Levy, 38, and against the Levy, 85.

Precinct 2 – Hamilton City Hall

For U.S. Senator – Capito, 269; Tennant, 93; Buckley, 13; Baber, 3; Hudok, 9. For U.S. House of Representatives, 1st Congressional District – McKinley, 235 and Gainer, 137. For W.Va. State Senator in the 14th Senatorial District –Sypolt, 194 and Shaver, 175. For House of Representatives 53rd Delegate District –Smith, 291. For Tucker County Commissioner, Darlington, 201 and Rosenau, 182. In the ballot on the Constitutional Amendment – For the Amendment, 142 and against the Amendment, 188. In the ballot for the Tucker County School Levy – For the Levy, 123, and against the Levy, 254.

Precinct 3 – St. John’s United Methodist Church

For U.S. Senator – Capito, 198; Tennant, 77; Buckley, 3; Baber, 4; Hudok, 11. For U.S. House of Representatives, 1st Congressional District – McKinley, 189 and Gainer, 98. For W.Va. State Senator in the 14th Senatorial District –Sypolt, 163 and Shaver, 126. For House of Representatives 47th Delegate District –Wagner, 166 and Stemple, 108. For Tucker County Commissioner, Darlington, 173 and Rosenau, 126. In the ballot on the Constitutional Amendment – For the Amendment, 129 and against the Amendment, 143. The canvass will be 1 p.m. Nov. 10 and after a 48-hour window for recounts, official election results will be available.
