Tucker County High School Prom was held Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Parsons Volunteer Fire Department in Parsons. The theme was Bright Lights and Hollywood Nights and what a night it was. More than half of the high school students were in attendance and looking their best. The festivities started at 6 p.m. with a reveal for the parents and community to stop by and see what effort went into preparing the prom.
Red Carpet began at 7 p.m. with students walking a full length red carpet area from the front of the fire hall to the back entrance where an area was set up for family to take VIP photos before students entered the prom. The entrance was a red carpet vintage movie premier with a full length Hollywood sign on the hillside of Tucker Manor and handmade by their class advisor, David Nelson, who also made many of the props.
Green ferns lined the front of the fire hall and antique cars. When entering into the main area for prom a VIP Lounge with crystal lamps and feather centerpieces each handmade by parents and students, crystal chandeliers and black and white draping filled the room.
Those in attendance danced the night away to DJ Nick Scott and a lighted LED dance floor. A Free Photo Booth was also provided where they could make their own memories with a free special memento from the prom.
Even the adults took advantage of being a little silly. Formal photos featured a Model T car in which the students walked by during the red carpet. Months of preparation, weeks and many hours of decorating by students and parents and the generosity of the Parsons Fire Department letting the students use the hall for storage and decorating early made this a very special event.
What a special night for the students of TCHS and memories to last a lifetime.
