DAVIS, W.Va. – Canaan Valley Resort State Park is gearing up for an exciting winter season with major improvements underway at its ski area. As part of ongoing investments to enhance the guest experience and maintain the resort’s reputation as one of the premier winter destinations in West Virginia, the resort has announced significant upgrades to its snowmaking and grooming systems.
Backed by a $6 million investment from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), Canaan Valley Resort has completed a new snowmaking pump house that increases efficiency and coverage across the mountain. The improved system will allow the resort to produce more snow in a shorter amount of time, ensuring reliable conditions and longer seasons for skiers and snowboarders. In addition, Canaan Valley Resort has added a new snow groomer to its fleet to further enhance slope quality and consistency throughout the season.
“We are excited about bringing new improvements to our beloved mountain and can’t wait to welcome guests to an elevated skiing experience this winter,” said Ryan Rosenau, General Manager of Canaan Valley Resort. “These investments continue our commitment to providing outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities in one of West Virginia’s most beautiful settings.”
Located in the heart of Tucker County, Canaan Valley Resort is home to 47 trails across 850 skiable acres and boasts the highest mountain valley east of the Mississippi River. Known for its scenic beauty and consistent winter conditions, the resort offers alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, and ice skating—all surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Canaan Valley State Park.
