
Candidates for local, county and state are gearing up for their campaigns. On Saturday, Delegate Randy Smith, R-Preston, held a town meeting in Thomas to update folks about work in Charleston with the start of the Legislature. Smith announced his intent to run for Senator for District 14. D.R. Buck Jennings, Republican from Preston County, and Al Tomson, Democrat from Tucker County, have announced they will run or Smith’s seat for the House of Delegates 53 District.

PARSONS – The Primary Election, slated for May 10, will be upon us before we know it. Candidates for local, state and national seats are gearing up for their candidacy, and locally, folks are getting to know those running for offices. The time line for filing for office runs through January 30.
Folks filing to run for office include:
Tucker County Assessor – James “Chris” Michael of Parsons and Greg Stevens of Parsons.
Tucker County Sheriff – Brian K. Wilfong of Hambleton.
Tucker County Board of Education – Tim Turner of Parsons.
Conservation District Supervisor – James B. Nester, Sr. of Parsons.
Tucker County Commissioner – Lowell Moore of Parsons.
Tucker County Circuit Clerk – Sharon Moats of Parsons.
Tucker County Clerk – Sherry Simmons of Parsons.
Magistrate – Riley H. Barb of Davis and Mont Miller of Parsons.
Tucker County Prosecuting Attorney – Ray LaMora of Parsons.
W.Va. Senate District 14 – Randy Smith of Davis.
W.Va. House of Representatives District 53 – D.R. Buck Jennings of Thornton and Al Tomson of Davis.
In Tucker County, early voting will begin April 27 and run through May 7 with weekday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday early voting is available April 30 and May 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
