Rising CMT artist Courtney Cole will bring her unique musical style to the Potomac Highlands on May 20 for a free concert. The concert is presented by Eastern WV Community and Technical College and CMT’s Empowering Education initiative, which aims to inspire viewers to further their education.
Cole’s recent single hit # 1 on Taste of Country’s Top 10 Countdown, and she opened for Miranda Lambert on the 2015 ‘Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour’. “I’m excited to partner with CMT on their Empowering Education initiative. Music and education are a powerful combination,” Cole said. “Having the opportunity to meet students and hear their stories is something I’m looking forward to!”
Eastern WV Community and Technical College will host the event at the Moorefield Armory, on Freedom Way. The evening’s activities will begin at 5:30 with a Resource Fair where visitors can learn about programs that support students at the college and chat with their representatives. The National Guard, Workforce Investment Board (WIB), WorkForceWV, FNB Bank, Full Measured Education, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), WorkAmerica, and others, will be in attendance. The concert will begin at 6:30 PM and feature an opening performance by the local N2Pickin’ band, in addition to Cole.
Prior to the concert, the area’s First Annual District Consortium Economic Development (DCED) Legislator Invitational will convene at the college earlier that day. The DCED is comprised of stakeholders from Eastern’s six-county service district, including K-12 and college educators, community and industry leaders, and county economic development directors. Area legislators will participate in the meeting as well.
Tickets to the concert are free and can be reserved online at www.easternwv.edu/backstage. Beginning May 2, they will also be available for pick up at the following locations: Grant County Bank at 3 Maple Hill Avenue, Petersburg; FNB Bank at 105 North High Street, Romney; M & T Bank at 67 North Main Street, Keyser; Pendleton Community Bank at 300 North Main Street, Franklin; the Tucker County Board of Education at 100 Education Lane, Parsons; and Eastern’s Moorefield campus, at 316 Eastern Drive.
