The Tucker County Commission has donated $1500 to the Fraternal Order of Police’s children’s Christmas fund with the stipulation it be used for Tucker County children. The donation was part of the Commission’s regular November 13th meeting.
While Brian Thomson was scheduled to be on hand to represent the Fraternal Order of Police at the meeting, Tucker County Commission President Mike Rosenau said that Thomson had informed him he would not be able to attend. Rosenau instead read from a letter presented to the Commission by the Order that expressed the organization’s gratitude for their previous support and asked for their continued support this year.
According to the letter, the organization served over 240 families from Randolph, Barbour, Tucker, Pocahontas, Grant and Pendleton Counties at their annual Christmas Party. “With your assistance, more than 240 children with their families from Randolph, Barbour, Tucker, Pocahontas, Grant and Pendleton Counties were invited to attend our annual Christmas Party,” Rosenau read.
Rosenau read in the letter that the children met Santa and the Grinch as well as received their gifts from him. The letter also stated that attendees received refreshments, played in bounce houses and participated in holiday activities, as well as each child received hats and gloves for winter. “All attendees had an opportunity to meet Santa, as well as the Grinch,” Rosenau read. “They enjoyed refreshments, played in two bounce houses, participated in various holiday activities, each child received hats, gloves for the winter months and they received their gifts from Santa,” Rosenau read.
In a motion made by Tucker County Commissioner Tim Knotts, the Commission approved the requested amount of $1500 with the stipulation that the amount be exclusively used for Tucker County children. “With the stipulation that it is with Tucker County children, all monies that we donate,” Rosenau said.
