Elkins, WV – Davis Health System (DHS) is continuing to push support of the STOP THE BLEED®
program in local schools.
STOP THE BLEED® is a national training program that focuses on a simple step approach to
saving lives during a mass casualty or other emergency event. To date, thousands across the
country have received training preparing them to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding.
DHS staff and the DHS Foundation are collaborating with Randolph County Schools to bring
training and STOP THE BLEED® kits to each school in the county.
Since the local campaign was launched in 2022, 12 training kits have been supplied to
elementary, middle and high schools in Elkins, Harman, Tygarts Valley, and Pickens. Four kits have
been provided to D&E College. Support has been received from Citizens Bank of WV, Grant County
Bank, Mountain Valley Bank, the Rotary Club of Elkins, Follow Your Bliss, and the DHS Foundation.
“We thank our community partners for helping create safe spaces to work and learn,” said
DHS Foundation Director Mike Bell.
The kits range in price from $500 to $800 depending on the number of enrolled students. Any
local business or organization that would like to become a STOP THE BLEED® sponsor, can contact
the DHS Foundation at 304.630.3043.
