The American FFA Degree is the highest degree the National FFA Organization can bestow upon an FFA member. Less than one percent of FFA members earn the American FFA Degree.  It is awarded to high school graduate members with demonstrated leadership, community service, academic success and outstanding SAE (supervised agricultural experience) programs.  The requirements that must be met are quite extensive at the county level, the greenhand and chapter degrees. At the state level the State FFA degree must have been received, been an active member for the past three years and have recorded participation in chapter and state level activities.  The recipient must have graduated from high school with a scholastic record of “C” or better and to have graduated at least 12 months prior to the National convention. They must also have at least 50+ community service hours and have productively invested the minimum of $7,500 in their SAE products.  Members have two years to complete the application for approval, after their high school graduation.

There will be one FFA Member, from Tucker County High School’s graduating class of 2022 to receive her America FFA Degree in October of 2024 at the National Convention in Indianapolis, IN.  Haley Tuttle will walk across the stage with the top FFA members of the United States of America.  Haley has been a member of the Tucker County chapter since her freshman year at TCHS. She has participated in the county fair with exhibits of market hogs, market rabbits and laying hens; held the office of Chapline, Secretary and President for the local chapter, spent hours of volunteer time at the Tucker County fair; participated with the veterans (Christmas parade) and Parsons City hayrides, the little league youth football, and many other community events.  Haley is now employed at Tucker County and Barbour County EMS as an EMT/Driver.  She also is attending Pierpont Technical Community College earning her associates degree in Emergency Medicine and her National Paramedic certification.
