The following were awarded funds:

Alpine Heritage Foundation, an organization dedicated to the restoration of Cottrill’s Opera House, was awarded $450 to purchase a license to host movie nights on the ground floor of Thomas’s Opera House.

Mountain Arts District, a regional non-profit working to increase community and economic development through the arts, received $1,200 to cover tuition for twelve Tucker County artists participating in a digital marketing and social media workshop that will be held in Tucker County later this year.

St. George Academy Preservation Society was awarded $4,500 for roof repairs of the St. George Academy, a two-story Tucker County historic schoolhouse on the National Register of Historic Places that was built in 1885.

Vandalia Heritage Foundation received $4,500 to repair the building’s elevator and improve accessibility to the Buxton and Landstreet building for the Vandalia Arts Center.

Friends of the 500th received $450 to create an exhibition of photographs and interpretive materials contrasting highland locations in Tucker County during the early 20th century with current photographs of the same places. The display is named “Tucker County Highlands Then and Now.”

Robin McClintock was awarded $5,000 for her “Tell Me a Story” project, a collection of archived photographs taken at industrial sites in Tucker County to be displayed throughout the county.

Tucker County Development Authority was awarded $760 for the decoration and display of materials at this year’s Tucker County legislature day in Charleston.
