There was a death at the Timberline Mountain Resort Sunday, January 4th. Timberline Mountain released a statement Sunday evening confirming the death on their Facebook page after 6 p.m. that evening.
“It is with profound sadness that we can confirm the death of a guest at Timberline Mountain on Sunday, January 4th,” the post reads.
In the post, Timberline confirmed that the death is under investigation, but did not provide any additional information surrounding the incident.
“The incident is currently under investigation,” the post reads. “In consideration for the family’s privacy, we ask for your patience and understanding that we have no further details to share at this time.”
There have been unconfirmed reports from bystanders that the death was the result of a fall from the chair lift possibly due to a medical emergency and first responders provided CPR on site.
Timberline Mountain also sent their condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased in their post. Timberline also thanked the ski patrol, mountain staff and local emergency services for their rapid, professional response to the emergency.
“Our priority is always the safety and well-being of our guests,” the post reads. “Our hearts go out to everyone affected and we thank our community for their support in the wake of this tragedy.”
The Parsons Advocate reached out to the West Virginia State Patrol, but have not received comment by press time. We will print updates as they become available.
