DAVIS – Just minutes from skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, golf and many other year-round activities is a vacation retreat – the Land of Canaan Vacation Resort Condominiums. Recently, many upgrades and renovations have been made – and even though the facilities were built in the 1980s, the décor and features are very modern and up to date.
The Land of Canaan offers two bedrooms, two bath condominiums with a living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer linens and towels. On the grounds of the Land of Canaan, amenities include tennis courts, an outdoor pool, miniature golf, shuffle board, hot tubs and a pavilion with grills.
Condominiums may be purchased a week at a time, and Land of Canaan is one of only two timeshare resorts in West Virginia. Brittany Bennett is the resort manager.
“Hopefully, we will be adding an indoor recreation center within the next few years that will have an indoor pool, “ Bennett said. “We are a timeshare resort and are the only one in this area. We were built predominately a winter resort, and folks own a week from Saturday to Saturday.”
Realtor Debbie Stevens said weekly ownership is very affordable, as well as the yearly maintenance fee.
“Folks can also trade their week for a week somewhere else,” Stevens said. “There are 42 units with six condominiums in each.”
Stevens said there are currently some units available for purchase.
“Folks really enjoy staying at the Land of Canaan,” Stevens said. “Daily activities include tours to the local glass factories, caverns and points of interest. During the evenings, there are spa nights, BINGO, arts and crafts and cookouts.”
Activity Director Justin Suder said folks should consider ownership in Land of Canaan Vacation Resort.
“Nowhere else in the United States can you get almost heaven, West Virginia,” Suder said. “I take you there. I take you to the highest point in West Virginia – you climb the tower and there you are. Who would not want a piece of almost heaven, West Virginia? It’s a beautiful place and a beautiful state.”
Suder said he has heard people who do not live in West Virginia, but own a timeshare at the Land of Canaan Vacation Resort, love traveling to the state.
“They say it feels like a whole other world,” Suder said. “We have been to the mountains in other places in the U.S., but this place is unique – it’s nature, it’s environment, it’s laid back. They like getting away from the rest of the world to this little community in Canaan Valley – it’s like family. They get to meet one another and get to know one another and it’s just like family.”
Bennett said work and upgrades are dealt with, keeping each of the units very clean and up to date.
