I was very disheartened today when I heard my favorite female singer of all time had passed away. I have listened to Tina Turner’s music since I was a teenager. I lived through all the grief that Ike Turner put her through and still she persevered. She was a very resilient person and I admire her strength through all the tribulations of her life. Momma Said, “What doesn’t kill ya makes ya stronger!”
I have noticed that this is going to be the year of millions of dollars going to waste. The politicians are coming out of the woodwork to run for office and the money will start to fly. With all the people and organizations that need money I don’t know why all this money is wasted on advertisements and whatever else it is used for only God knows.
We need a person to run for president that has some military background and some sense of what is going on in the world. I think our present president is much too old to hold down this important office. The stress alone is enough to make a young man bow down. I am not being insensitive to senior citizens but sometimes enough is enough.
I don’t think we need businessmen or laymen that know nothing about the important situations that you can get involved in as president of an entire country. Running a country is very different from running a company. We need qualified people in our leadership that know the ins and outs of what it takes to run a country. And quite frankly I don’t think we have had that in a very long time.
I love my country but we are becoming the laughing stock of the entire world. We are no longer considered a super power and in my opinion if we were, Putin would not still be doing what he is doing to Ukraine. We got rid of Kaddafi, Ben Laden and Saddam Hussein so what is the difference with Putin? He has committed heinous war crimes against humanity so why are we standing back and letting this continue? Momma Said, “Someone needs to grow a pair and get rid of this monster.”
Cheesy Pigs in a Blanket
INGREDIENTS
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 CUP grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 egg beaten
- 14- OUNCES mini cocktail wieners or smoked sausages
- Sesame seeds
- Poppy seeds
- Honey mustard or ketchup for serving
INSTRUCTIONS
- Brush one sheet of puff pastry with a little water. Scatter the Cheddar cheese evenly over the pastry sheet and then place the second sheet of puff pastry on top. Roll the two pastry sheets out together to a 12 x 12-inch square. Cut the pastry into 36 2-inch squares.
- To assemble the cheesy pigs in a blanket, brush one corner of each of the dough squares with egg wash. Place a cocktail wiener in the center of each square diagonally. Fold the corner opposite the egg wash over the wiener and then fold the egg wash corner over and press it firmly against the other corner of pastry to seal well. Be sure to give it a good pinch so the dough stays shut while cooking. Brush each assembled pig in a blanket with egg wash and sprinkle some sesame and poppy seeds on top.
- Brush the air fryer basket lightly with a little vegetable oil or line your air fryer basket with a little parchment paper. In two or three batches (depending on the size of your air fryer), load the basket with the pigs in a blanket leaving about an inch between each one. Air-fry at 380°F for 8 to 12 minutes until golden brown turning them over for the last two minutes of cooking.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce
