Garrett County Sheriff Bryson Meyers released a statement on the arrest of Oakland resident Joseph Neal Tollover, 22, in collection with the death of 62 year old Donna May Resor, also of Oakland. The homicide, by gunshot, occurred just over the Tucker County line.
Sheriff Meyers statement said that on March 2nd, Tolliver was arrested after deputies responded to the 1600 block of Kepmpton Road at approximately 1:30 a.m. for a reported death investigation. It was reported that Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division, Detectives with the Narcotics Task Force, along with the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigator responded to the scene and Detectives subsequently obtained a search warrant for the residence.
In the course of the investigation, it was determined that Resnor died as a result of a gunshot wound. Tolliver was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime of Violence, according to the statement.
“I want to thank our Detectives for their outstanding investigative work. Their persistence, attention to detail, and dedication were instrumental in moving this case forward. The community can be confident knowing we have professionals of this caliber serving and protecting them.” Sheriff Meyers said.
Tolliver was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center to be held awaiting a pending bond hearing.
Tolliver also faces pending charges in Tucker County in unrelated matters and is awaiting arraignment.
