The Parsons Advocate

Parsons got a little more colorful the weekend of June 29th and 30th.  Five River Campground hosted its annual Pow Wow in Parsons.  Dancers from around the country met in Parsons to celebrate Native heritage and tradition, as well as come together in fellowship.

The event was Emceed by Keith Colston with Urie Ridgeway as Arena Director.  The Dancers were led by Head Male Dancer Louis Campbell and Head Female Dancer Adrienne Harmon.  The Host Southern Drums were provided by Red Blanket and the Host Northern Drums were provided by Warpaint.

Storyteller Raggie Rain provided Native storytelling and Aztec Dancers from Canpatlanezi Danza Azteca Del Anahuac also gave two special performances throughout the two day event.  Members of the troupe also participated in inter-tribal dances throughout the event.

Herman Jackson and Ragghi Rain performed the Blessing of the Circle on both days.  All proceeds from the Pow Wow went to benefit the Baltimore American Indian Center.
