Seneca Rocks, W.Va., June 26, 2024 – Explore what’s below the surface in a freshwater ecosystem and gain an appreciation for the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Join Monongahela National Forest’s Seneca Rocks Discovery Center staff for experiential river snorkeling programs on Tuesdays & Thursdays through September 5, 2024.

“When you think of snorkeling, the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but we invite you to have fun discovering the often-un-seen world of this thriving ecosystem,” said Mandy Harmon, Assistant Discovery Center Director.

Space is limited for these programs. Pre-registration is required. To register and for more information, contact Justin Lee at justin.lee@usda.gov, call the discovery center at 304-567-2627 or inquire at the discovery center information front desk.

Interpretive opportunities like river snorkeling are offered to the public in partnership with Eastern National Forests Interpretive Association (ENFIA) and Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area (AFNHA). The Seneca Rocks Discovery Center is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
