A call came into the Tucker County 911 Center at approximately 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6th regarding a car that had flipped on the Appalachian Highway near Davis. According to Tucker County Sheriff Jake Kopec, who was not personally at the scene, the call initially was received as a missing person’s case.
Units from Davis Volunteer Fire Department, Thomas Volunteer Fire Department, Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department, the Tucker County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police responded.
A gray Nissan SUV, described as possibly a Pathfinder, had rolled off the side of the mountain near Rough Rider Lane and Cortland Road. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and reported deceased on the scene.
There was no word on how long the vehicle had been there or how long the driver had been missing. The identification of the driver has also not been released. There is also no word on whether the driver was a local, visitor or someone passing through.
The West Virginia State Police are investigating. The Parsons Advocate reached out to the WVSP for more information and are awaiting contact. The Parsons Advocate will publish as updates become available.
