Brody Strawderman was recognized during the homecoming parade on Saturday, October 15 and again at the end of the third quarter of the football game as the Glenville Pioneers Faced off against Alderson Broaddus University.
During the Homecoming Parade, Strawderman rode in the car with Zakiyah Winfield, the 2022 Williams Award recipient.
The Montrose Award was established in 1952 and is named in honor of Frank Montrose. It is given each year during homecoming to a graduate of the preceding class who not only was an outstanding athlete, but a scholar, a leader, and a person of high moral character. This prestigious award recognizes each year’s outstanding male athlete and honors Frank’s memory. Additionally. it pays tribute to the very promising career that he would have had in Pioneer football had he not fallen victim to nephritis and passed away his freshman year.
Strawderman joins a small, elite group of Montrose Award honorees whose performance in athletics and in the classroom have set a standard of excellence.
