DAVIS – The Tucker Community Foundation is looking at purchasing the current building in Davis that houses Boomtown Java and the Highland Food and Farm Market – and if all is successful, Executive Director Robert Burns said the Foundation hopes to move the Development/Run for It Office back into the building, bringing it back home.

Tucker Community Foundation Executive Director Robert Burns said the Foundation’s Board has discussed having a permanent location in Davis for many years.

“The opportunity came up to go ahead and purchase the building where Boomtown Java and the Highland Food and Farm Market are located so we are pursuing that opportunity right now,” Burns said. “It has not been finalized, but hopefully it will be very soon.”

Burns said the general concept is to have a permanent home for the Tucker Community Foundation’s Development Office. “So we will be moving Diane Hinkle and her office from her current location into that building,” Burns said. “The Highland Food and Farm Market will stay where it is, and Boomtown Java will move or shut down operations. I am not sure at this point.”

He said there is another non-profit there he is working with in hopes of relocating them.

Burns said once they close on the sale of the building, there will need to be some renovations made to the building.

“It will be several months to a year before the construction is complete,” Burns said. “Then we will have Diane and the Development Office move across the street into their new location. We also have some long term plans of doing some additions, if economically feasible, to the building that will help the community up there.”
