DAVIS, W.Va. – Looking for a great getaway trip? The small towns of Thomas and Davis were recently voted the Best Place to Experience the Fall by WV LIVING Magazine readers.

WV LIVING magazine’s third annual Best of West Virginia Awards will feature the results of the contest in its fall issue, on newsstands Sept. 1.

“Every city or town offers something unique,” said Jessica Scowcroft, Tucker County CVB executive director. “We’re thrilled to be recognized as the best place to experience West Virginia’s gorgeous fall foliage. Few places in the state rival the scenic vistas and outdoor activities Thomas and Davis offer.”

The fall colors are so magnificent, the region has a dedicated festival every September to celebrate.

The 27th Annual Leaf Peepers Festival is planned for September 25-27, 2015. A golf tournament, community-wide 2k/5k Run For It! race, pet show, photo contest, kids activities, the ever-famous Duck Race, Appalachian Food & Craft Fair, and more are lined-up.

“If leaf peeping were a religion, Tucker County would be its cathedral,” said Scowcroft. “Once you’ve breathed in the mountain air and witnessed the explosion of fall colors – you’ll be a fan and visitor for life.”

Some of the state’s most popular outdoor destinations are located a stone’s throw from Thomas and Davis. Places such as Blackwater Falls State Park, Canaan Valley Resort State Park, Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Dolly Sods Wildness & Scenic Area, Monongahela National Forest, and others.
