DAVIS, W.Va. (April 25, 2016) – The Tucker County Convention & Visitors Bureau will join cities, states, and travel-related businesses nationwide May 1-7 in recognition of National Travel and Tourism Week.
The CVB kicked-off its celebration on Monday, May 1 with the launch of a “True Tucker” photo contest on the CVB’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
“We’re asking visitors, residents, and anyone who is a fan of Tucker County, West Virginia to send us their favorite pic of Tucker County,” Tucker County CVB Director Jessica Scowcroft said. “The photo may be from any season, this year, last year, or five years ago. We want to see what makes Tucker County 100% genuine. Is it the sunsets? The mountain views? A great beer or special meal? Is it a festival or simply spending time with your family outdoors? Show us!”
Participants who enter and share their favorite “True Tucker” photo could win a True Tucker T-shirt and handmade coffee mug from Tucker County Convention & Visitors Bureau. Tucker County CVB will randomly select three (3) entries.
The contest begian at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016 and officially ends at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Participants must use the hashtag #TrueTucker with their entry. Winners will be randomly selected and announced by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016.
Scowcroft said, “We are a short drive away and are a tremendously affordable destination. Tucker County is part untamed wilderness, part quaint small town, and 100% genuine. Showing that uniqueness through images is the perfect way to celebrate how important tourism is to this region.”
Travel and tourism is one of America’s largest industries, with $927.9 billion in direct travel expenditures by domestic and international travelers. The industry also represents one of America’s largest employers with 8 million direct travel-generated jobs and $221.7 billion in travel-generated payroll. Tucker County’s travel industry accounts for an estimated 670 direct jobs that generate $40.1 million in wages earned.
