PARSONS – On the final day of the Tucker County Fair, 4-H and FFA students and their livestock prepare for the highlight of their year – where they compete with one another, cheer one another on and say farewell to their projects. This year, the 2015 Tucker County 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale was a huge success.
The Showmanship winners include Senior Showman Grand Champion Vincent Moats and Reserve Senior Showman Lydia Mullenax. The Intermediate Showman awards went to Grand Champion Mary Carr and Reserve Champion Shelby Beavers. The Novice Grand Champion was Andre Cale and the Reserve Champion was Hannah Cussins.
Nick and Ashlea Wolfe sponsored the Market Rabbits. The grand champion exhibitor for market rabbits was Hannah Cussins, and they were sold for $170 to Eddie Evans of Kenna’s Deer Processing. The reserve champion for market rabbits was Logan Pennington, and they were sold for $115 to Robinson Logging.
Other Market Rabbits, owned by Darrah Pennington, were sold to Marsha Doak of The Picket Patch for $130.
The Poultry and Eggs Division of the Livestock sale was sponsored by Little Andi’s Restaurant of Parsons. The Grand Champion was Kate Bates, and her exhibit was sold for $100 to Rex and Peggy Galloway. The reserve champion was Sarah Bates, and her poultry and eggs sold for $100 to Howard Canfield.
Other exhibitors in the poultry and eggs included Ethan Carr, who was purchased by Laura Olsen of Mountaineer Home Care for $55; Mary Carr, who was purchased by Wayne Smith of Grant County Bank for $55; Logan Pennington, who was purchased by Marsha Doak of The Picket Patch for $55; and Noah Moore, purchased by CCR Farm for $60.
The Market Goats sale was sponsored by Leonard and Brenda Arnold. The grand champion exhibitor was Shelby Beavers and her goat was purchased by Mettiki Coal Company for $3.50 per pound. The reserve champion exhibitor was Ethan Carr, and his goat was purchased for $3.50 per pound by McClain Printing Company.

The Market Lamb sale was sponsored by Snowy Creek Dorsets. The Market Lambs grand champion exhibitor was Andrew Cale and Marsh Trucking Co. purchased his lamb for $5 per pound. The reserve champion was Tate Mullenax, and his lamb was purchased for $5 per pound by Marsh Trucking Co.

The Market Steers sale was sponsored by Pat Bright. The grand champion exhibitor was Jacob Beavers, and Metikki Coal Company purchased his steer for $3.50 per pound. The reserve champion exhibitor was Vincent Moats, and his steer was purchased by Patrick Darlington of Performance Chevy for $3.40 per pound.
The Feeder Steers sale was sponsored by Patriots 4. The grand champion exhibitor was Mikayla Long, and her steer was purchased by Craig Phillips of Parsons Shop n Save for $2.90 per pound.
