For one reason or another, not everyone in Tucker County this year will be sitting around a table with family and friends come December 24th and 25th. Whether it be that family is too far away or they are visitors from afar, Tucker County has several options for all this year.
Where to Eat
Come Christmas, Tucker County businesses will be offering a variety of selections to choose from for the holiday meal. The following will be offering meals on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
B & J’s Family Diner at 166 Main St, Parsons will be offering Breakfast until Noon on Christmas Eve, December 24th. Reservations are not required. They will be closed on Christmas Day so that their staff can spend the holiday with family.
The Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls at 1584 Blackwater Lodge Rd, Davis will be offering Christmas Day at the Smokehouse, Christmas Day, December 25th. A Menu that includes house-made chicken potato soup, garden tossed salad, roasted turkey and stuffing, tavern ham with apple chutney, smoked beef brisket, smoked trout, house-made vegetable lasagna, sides and desserts. Adults $35.95, Juniors (6-12) $17.95, 5 and under are free with a dining adult. Reservations are recommended. Tax and gratuity are additional. Call (304) 259-5216 for more information. Canaan Valley Resort State Park at 230 Main Lodge Rd, Davis will be offering their Christmas Day Buffet on Christmas Day, December 25th. The Menu includes Garden Tossed Salad, Caesar Salad, Fruit and Berry Display, Smoked Salmon Board, Shrimp Cocktail, Cranberry and Walnut Cheese Ball, Deviled Eggs, Pasta Fagioli, Prime Rib with Au Jus, Oven Roast Turkey and Stuffing, Honey Glazed Ham, Lasagna, Macaroni and Cheese, Corn Casserole, Garlic and Feta Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Sprouts and Carrots with Cranberries and Pecans, as well as Assorted Desserts, Sweets and Rolls. Adults are $48.00 with a 10% discount for Seniors and Armed Forces, Juniors (6-12) $20.00, 5 and under are complimentary with a paying adult. Tax and Gratuity are extra. Reservations are recommended. What to Do
After a day of hitting the slopes, taking a ride down the sled run or braving the chill on a brisk December trail hike, Tucker County is offering indoor activities to warm the bones with a nice hot chocolate or mulled wine.
Canaan Valley Resort State Park at 230 Main Lodge Rd, Davis will be offering a variety of activities around the holiday. All activities are held in their Pine Room.

On Christmas Eve, December 24th, from 7 p.m to 8 p.m. there will be Board Games, Corn Hole & Limbo,
Coloring Sheets & Puzzles. Santa will also be present in the Main Lobby with cookies and hot chocolate.

Christmas Day, December 25th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. there will be Board Games, Corn Hole & Limbo and Paint Your Own Nutcracker, Santa Hat and Ornament Crafts

Christmas Day, December 25th, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a coloring contest with Get Your Own Grinch Cup at Noon and watch his heart grow and a Candy Guess Jar.

Cumberland Honey will perform Saturday, December 27th at 1 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance/$15 day of the show.
White Grass Ski Touring Center at 643 Weiss Knob Ski Road, Davis will be holding a Christmas Holiday Snowshoe Discovery Tour December 26th beginning at 10 a.m. with Chip Chase. “Enjoy a streamside and vista filled walk with the entertaining White Grass owner.” Little over a mile and about an hour or so.
Of course for those who are shut in or alone this holiday season there is no substitute for the company of a loved one or neighbor. Be sure to look in on each other this holiday season. A simple hello can make all the difference to a neighbor.
