Douglas Road, in Thomas, is host to Hick or Treat, created by the DiBacco and Hicks. Andria DiBacco said, “I recently had my chicken pen torn down . I had chicken wire and pvc pipe to spare.
I collaborated with my new neighbors Susan and Brian Hicks to create a audio/visual halloween display. I made the forms out of left over pvc pipe, chicken wire and landscaping cloth. The clothes are sewn on with fishing line. Susan skillfully sculpted and painted the faces and hands, shopped for thrift store and other items.
Brian assisted with lighting and sound effects. The Hicks are from Alexandria Va , and are thrilled to participate in the Thomas halloween celebrations . They want to have a “Hick o Treat ” on hal loweeen night and invite the children to come and
view/enjoy the halloween display. They want t he children to know they bought full size candy bars for the occassion.”
The cauldron is a fire pit with green lights, covered with chicken wire and then polyfill stuffing. The fire is made of red christmas lights. The brooms are found deadfall sticks with various tree twiggs tied to them The display is our tribute to the late great Sir Terry Prat chett who is a favorite writer. The witches are very loosely styled after Nanny Ogg , Granny Weatherwax and Magrat Garlic from his books.
